IT IS NOT BASAVANNA BUT SYMBOL OF HINDU RELIGION

For Tanvi Films CR Manohar lavish production starring Upendra, Ragini Dwivedi and Saloni in lead roles it is not ‘Basavanna’ but symbol of Hindu religion – especially in Veerashaiva and Iyer community – 3 Vibhuti lines. In addition to it on the forehead that is applied the ‘3rd eye of Shiva’ is affixed for title.

Sign symbols have become common. It is up to the audience to give verdict on the title. I would call the screen name Basavanna of protagonist Upendra says Srinivasaraju. I am not going for further controversy. I would personally like Basavanna as title says Raju. The film is all about Dharma – there is action and so is Pistol. A powerful commercial entertainer is the ultimate goal of this film he says.

According to Upendra he is like ‘Basava in front of Lord Shiva’. I have done what is told to me by director. It is a lavish film that gave the feel of a Telugu film says Upendra. Whether it is ‘Trinetra, Mukkanna….or anything else is left to audience to decide says Upendra.

CR Manohar was waiting to make a good film with Upendra for a long time. This is altogether different film he observes. Upendra is the only who can take up this kind of variety in one role says Manohar. He has feel of a good cinema.

Ragini Dwivedi is once again in two heroine’s cinema in this symbol cinema. Saloni is girl next door traditional heroine. Saloni is behind Uppi to accept him, while Ragini has one dashing with bit of action with Upendra and another shade of a role in this film.

Upendra has that rare magnetic strength of getting attention from the day of title of the film says Doddanna. He is convinced that he has been part of a very good film. The shoot at Thiruvayur with ancient temple and the decision of Upendra at this particular scene is something beyond imagination says Doddanna.

Gururaj Desai has penned dialogues for this film. He has ‘Sarthakathe’ in his mind.
